It's fairly new. :) Before that I had links to a forum, which proved to be much more work than it was worth, compared to Livejournal.

I miss the forum quite a lot. I feel so much more restricted here than I did there. I feel like I can't bring up a new subject that isn't directly related to the chapter. It's also harder to know when there's been updates on older threads since they don't come to the top. I also miss Zathras and cer haikus. :(

Limerick summary

Haven't done one of these in a while...in the absence of Zathras, I'll just have to do. :P

At the carriage stop Amy held back
Wanted one just for her and her Mack
Is it pushing? Who knows

Interesting to see someone on the inside of this societal group's view. I felt the same way, that the collar thing seems to me like a serious step, but not being into it, I wasn't sure if I was on track or not. Not having a reference point sucks sometimes.

I think this just illustrates why Mother Khaele has reservations about Mack and Amaranth's relationship. Neither of them have the maturity level for the 'Serious Business' of a D/s relationship of the type they're pretending to have and as it stands now it looks like Amaranth is getting wicked-crazy possessive of Mack as a salve to her own insecurities while at the same time unconciously feeding off Mack's naivite and need for a... well...

To paraphrase other web-fiction I greatly enjoyed that dealt with BDSM (among other) themes, Mack doesn't need an Owner... she needs a Mommy.

That pretty much was my feeling on the matter. I'm in a D/s relationship as well, and ironically enough, my fella and I have been together for about five months and still have no collar. Because we take that shit seriously, and don't try to just throw symbols around to make ourselves feel good and, as you put it, show what true little "dominates" and subs we bes. Oh well. With any luck, the great Mother shall say, "Okay, see, this is why you can't have nice things," and take Mack away.

That's another thing, the collar is 'Serious Business' despite how casual Amaranth is treating it. How is Ian going to react to this? If he's lucky this'll be one more 'weird thing' he's just clueless about and will see it as no different from anything else Mack does on Amaranth's insistence. Strnage, but not especially significant. If he's not he'll recognize what's more or less a D/s 'Wedding Ring' and start feeling even less like 'Mackenzie's Boyfriend' and more like 'that lesbian demon-girl's occasional penis' than he already does.

I agree with previous posters that getting a collar now is rushing the relationship forward a bit, but at least it is not a magically enchanted collar that can not be removed and transforms the wearer into a submissive rideable quadruped. Hypothetically speaking of course. Not that anyone would do something like that.

Mackenzie could always surprise us and say "no."

I'm a bit disturbed by this idea of the collar. It upsets me, not because of the BDSM element, but because they are not in a healthy or stable relationship. Amaranth is too insecure and it is just to unstable. I'm excited to see where this is going
