“I actually meant the more obscure ‘this is something that I find to be of interest’ meaning of ‘interesting’, not the ‘you are a cheap floozy who takes men for all that they’re worth’ one,” Marlot said. “But noted, just the same.”
I love Marlot's dialogue so much... Not just the above line, but that was the best of this chapter for me.
Also, why do I think Jamie is not going to get a B?
Much Marlot <3, she knows just how to beat a subject into the ground with the proper ammount of force and the best angle so it completely bypasses, "Okay this is getting old/offensive/not-funny anymore." and goes straight to, "Was funny, but now is hilarious." Kinda like what David Letterman tries to do but YMMV on his rate of success.
I seem to remember Bryony giving Jamie a hard time about half-assing his work in the past, or at least expecting more out of him, so I have a similar gut feeling. Also, B-passable papers from high school _should_ be different from B-passable papers in college.
“Ideally you should be ending up in bed with people you determine are worth it,” she said. “Not inferring that they’re worth it because you got into bed with them. That’s the kind of thinking that keeps people eating cafeteria food: you eat it once and then you tell yourself, it’s not so bad, I mean, I did eat it yesterday.”
Awesome. I know some people that need to hear this, really hear it and understand it. And yet, sadly, I know their brains will refuse to comprehend. *sigh*
On the main page, the story is not behind a cut. The whole thing is there :P I also saw a typo somewhere, but forgot what it was while reading. Oh well.
Anywyay, thoroughly enjoyed Marlot's banter in this chapter. She remains one of my favorite characters.
If not over the weekend than during the canceled class.
Classic "then/than" switch.
“I wanted to talk to you about,
Should probably have a "that" after "about".
You’d have to * back, like, thousands of years to find an elf in my family.”
Missing a "go" before "back". Also, kinda cute how he implied here that you'd have to go back many generations to find an elven ancestor without actually telling that lie outright. You probably actually do have to go back thousands of years to find when his grampa was born. :p
I've never posted a comment here before. I am in <3 with her. Seriously I never actually laugh out loud even when things are hilarious, except when reading whatever she has to say. She has my exact humor! I <3 her, and I <3 you for making her.

I think this is missing the "him" after "telling."
I like the pace this is going at right now. I also like Marlot; she should be there more.

Yes, I am now feeling the compulsion to work that term into my daily conversation on a regular basis.

It honestly isn't that great.

Exceedingly difficult to work into daily conversation, but it's guaranteed to make you grin whenever you do.
