What I can't understand here is why they have a phalanx at the bottom of the hill. Sure, it gives less ground, but it's a last-resort tactic anyways. I'd think the Dragons would want their phalanx at the top of the hill, or at least in the middle, to make that charge more difficult.

“If one team has a better strategy then they aren’t equal,” Pala said. “Why is a stronger player worth points but a better strategy isn’t? And why are fighters of one race all worth the same no matter how strong and fast they are?”

She isn't all that stupid at all, is she? Ignorant, but not stupid.

Holy cow, I can't imagine how many points Pala would be worth. A storm giant wielding a spear that shoots lightning? Thats expensive.

Rocky strikes (out) again

It appears that Rocky's self appointment to number 2 on the squad wasn't fully appreciated by some of the other squad members.

Re: Rocky strikes (out) again

Rocky to my knowledge was never 'self'-appointed to Number 2, she was in that position all along. She rather assumed the Number 1 position in all but name when Belinda failed to show any signs of real leadership.

They're also missing a lizardman(woman?), quite possibly sent to find their ogress who probably doesn't want to be found right now. Remember, two key factors in Raquel's plan was to use Belinda for intimidation and shock and 'Hissy' for telepathic coordination. Now it seems both are no-shows.

Raquel's plan would've been formidable, if it had a chance to be implemented... however, sending one indispensable member out to hunt for another indispensable member and having no contingency prepared if Both should be un-available would indicate that Raquel is a cunning Strategist but a piss-poor Leader.

Re: Rocky strikes (out) again

Oh wait! Now I remember. Raquel and Hissy's 'confrontation' with Mack happened Before the Skirmish.. not After. Hissy's laid-up with a bad case of Hell-Brain.

Re: Rocky strikes (out) again

If you go back and check the chapter covering the squad as a whole (Opening Skirmishes, posted July 14, 2008), you will see Rocky appoint herself Number 2 with Belinda's confused assent. Belinda was officially Squad Captain; Rocky's only authority came from her facade of being Belinda's aide. It seems, with Belinda a no-show, some more senior members of the squad are disputing Rocky's position.

Man, if the rest of the match goes like this I can see how the Harlowe skirmishers rallied around Mack-hate. Which isn't fair, but as we've already established, Mack's kind of a jerk when it comes to people who aren't intellectually inclined, so it's not totally undeserved hate either.

Blackwater?

Is it a sign that the I keep looking for pop-culture references, that I expect the Blackwater team to be all scholarship students getting their full tuition paid?

Re: Blackwater?

Huh, I thought they'd be the hardcore mercenery types like Callahan would be if skermish were real, by the name. What Blackwater are you talking about?

Re: Blackwater?

They are a college, I couldn't say directly that they were mercenaries. I went with the closest collegiate version.
