Ugh. SO annoyed with Mack's whining re: Callahan. I have a feeling that if Callahan's teaching style were applied to a subject that Mack already enjoyed, she'd have no complaints at all.

Or maybe I'm projecting here? (My favorite teacher in high school stood in front of our future valedictorian and announced "You. Are not. Smart." in a stentorian voice. It was awesome.)

Also, I want magic hair-removing goop.

One, your icon rocks.

Two, I think what you said about Mack and Callahan is true. She's been on the teacher's side during several conversations when a student is being disruptive or disrespectful (I think there was an example in her history class but I can't remember more specifically than that).

I think that Mack has a right to dislike a physically and verbally abusive teacher. I do not think that Callahan has a right to insult and abuse her students. Mack discriminates against jocks, and her remarks about the stupidity of anyone who likes sports is annoying, but if I think I was punched in the face by a teacher I would probably hate them too.

Yes, Callahan is abusive both physically and verbally. However, a thing to note is that signing up for her class and not switching away is a fairly unquestionable opt-in. There are the 'basic knife' and 'basic staff' classes for pussy-footing.
Also regardless of what Callahan is, Mackenzie's still being a whiny bitch and a big fat hypocrite.

Whiny, Yes - Hypocrite, No

Mack is not in Callahan's class by her (repeat "HER") choice, but under orders. Further she switched in at the last opportunity, so she could not switch out. Thus my heading.

Re: Whiny, Yes - Hypocrite, No

I agree with you on it not being hypocritical. She has no choice about the class she's in (except perhaps dropping it and having to take it later) from the university's standpoint, and is absolutely bound to do so as long as she's following Amaranth's orders. What bugs me about her whining, therefore, is that she keeps saying "This is how things should be, though!" I hate it when people do that. Maybe she's right. Maybe fighting classes shouldn't count towards her GPA or scholarships. But they do. Failing the class by dragging her feet the whole way isn't going to change that.

Re: Whiny, Yes - Hypocrite, No

With the hypocrisy I was mainly referring to how Mackenzie constantly neglects her coursework for Callahan's class, yet denies doing so on grounds that "it's not a real course and she shouldn't be graded on it." This is hypocrite regardless of how she ended up in the class.

THANK YOU AMARANTH.

Yes. About time someone knocked some sense into Mack with regard to Callahan's class. It's good that Amaranth is become a little more responsible and attentive as Mack's "owner"...

Although I can't help thinking the hot bath she's about to go for is going to end up involving mermaid creepiness.

Typo

“I am not kidding you, I’m ordering you,” she said. “And I want you to think about how much it disappoints me to order you to do something you should be doing on your own, something that you’re determined to fight me on even when I’ve made it clear that I think you should be doing it.(missing end quote)

“I… I… yes, ma’am,” I said.

Re: Typo

"We parted company my room,"

should probably be "... at my room,"

Does Mackenzie have
The stick-to-it-iveness for
Quarterstaff practice?

Amaranth takes a
Stab at seeing Callahan
Without appointment

Mackenzie's also
Forgotten the Logic class
Through which she daydreamed

Re: Typo

Where is that typo thread?

Anyway,

“Baby, we have been this so many times,” Amaranth said.

Something is missing there.

"We parted company my room, Amaranth giving me a kiss and sticking her hand down the front of my panties to once again rub smoothly against the hair that wasn’t there."

I think you mean "we parted company _at_ my room".

Getting a feel for Callahan.

It should be a mind-stretching experience for Amaranth. She's a big enough girl, but some of Callahan's lusts and desires will be a bit extreme even for her. Will she pick up on Callahan's desire to kill students? What might happen if she took her concerns to the Vice-Chancellor?

"...and I can tell you in confidence, Miss Amaranth, that such a request is made and denied on a regular basis. I can assure you that we have no intention of allowing Coach Callahan to kill students, and I am certain that she will not do so without permission."

"Well, that's all right then. By the way... would you like to devour me at some point? I'm going to go back to my field at the end of summer anyway..."

But, getting back to firm ground, while Amaranth does seem set to address a lot of justifiable concerns about Mack's attitude to mixed melee and its teacher, I do wonder how Amaranth and Callahan will get on with each other. If Callahan is feeling spiky or Amaranth gets her back up, Amaranth could find it extremely difficult to work with her.

Re: Getting a feel for Callahan.

Hmmh, I could be wrong, but the impression I've gotten is that Callahan's wish to dispose of certain people isn't really a sexual thing. I'd figure she wishes to kill people to 1) get rid of them 2) so others would learn to avoid what made her want number 1.
Or it could be sexual, of course. Goth knows everything else is.

Then again, why would Callahan's bloodlust squick Amaranth out any more than other people's desires of similar sort? We've had her fantasizing about being consumed by mermaids and being raped to death by ogres, can't see why being killed by a supermunchkin would be much worse.

anonymous comments are disabled? why's that?

is anyone else squicked out by amaranth ordering mackenzie to do something she really, really doesn't want to do, and has fought for a long fucking time? whether or not it's in mack's best interest, amaranth can do this for anything she deems okay. i know that mack has to, technically, agree, but...she's spineless.

Because if multiple anonymous people all comment and those comments spawn conversation, there's no way to keep track of who is saying what, from a having-a-dialogue point of view.

I was disturbed by Amaranth ordering Mack to walk across campus in her underwear. I would have thought that was on the list, but apparently anything above nudity is supposedly "okay" - but Mack doesn't seem to think there's much difference, and I wouldn't either.

I'm not disturbed by Amaranth ordering Mack to respect a teacher, especially since her scholarships would be on the line if she failed the class.
