I didn't notice any on this chapter, but I left a comment on your other LJ about a different chapter. Just making sure you noticed as there was no place for it at the time.
So it probably wasn't all that smart of Jamie to follow her, all told he got quite a bit lucky in this. And perhaps he should wait to tell Iason about this, considering the outcome of the match tonight.
I for some reason am hoping for Jamie telling Iason about the attack to bring out Iasons true feelings for jamie and maybe humanize him a little, but I have a feeling he'll just go off and chop up some middlings.
Despite all his flaws though, I still really like Iason.
OK, this isn't a comment on the chapter but on the new site design. I wanted to comment on it as soon as it went up, but that was the same time the forum died.
I haven't found anywhere else to post this, so here goes.
Please, please, PLEASE go back to a serif typeface. Or at the very least stop using boldface.
The current typeface makes my eyes hurt. And I mean that literally. I am shocked and dismayed that nobody else has said anything. Well, that's not entirely true, one of the last posters on the forum before it went up in flames wrote about the new design being hard to read but not being sure why. So I'm hoping that the silence is only due to people not being knowledgeable enough about typography to put words to what they're experiencing.
I know some pundits will claim that sans serif works well for web publishing. They are wrong. Sure, it's fine for very short pieces, ads or whatnot, but for longer text you will find that most professional websites stick with serifs. The ones who do use sans serif go with a roman font that is tightly kerned and in a small point size.
I want to continue reading your stories, but as it stands now I'm hesitant to click the link because I know that reading will be physically painful.
So in conclusion: please reconsider your choice of typeface.
Perhaps a more relevant question is which browser am I using. The answer is I've tried a couple. And the text does look slightly better in IE than in Firefox, to be precise anti-aliasing doesn't seem to work in the later. Which is a shame because it's my favorite browser.
But even in IE the wide spacing and bold font makes for a very tough read.
Oh, my Khosh. The stag riders are a krazy fun kult. I wonder if the bit Iason told Jamie about the bracelet coming off if he really rejected Iason with all his heart were true. Or if Alli is simply a raging fanatic, and was denied the bracelet because of her raging fanaticness. Hmm. If Iason WAS telling Jamie the truth about the bracelets losing their enchantment if the stag really, truly rejects his rider, then Alli's little rant looks like a purposeful attempt to pervert the spirit of the bracelet. But I doubt it. Iason seems like an amazingly good guy, in comparison. Mind you, that's still an insult to Iason. Mind you, Iason has always come aross to me (no pun intended) as basically good hearted, the classic chaotic good rogue. No real sense of ethics (he probably thinks it's a foreign country, and to him, no doubt, it is), but a kind heart. I am beginning to suspect that he has more a bad case of gynophobia, partly due to his innate strong preference for men, and partly due to some trauma. Mind you, the female middlings of Treeholme are enough to give dedicated lesbians the screaming heebie jeebies about women

I think this chapter also reflects on the fact the Jamie hasn't fully grasped the uses of the braclet. Had he turned into a stag then I'm fairly sure that Iason would have come to find him, not intent on rescue but the result would have been the same. I also think Iason will brush it off as less then a threat because he didn't transform into a stag
At first I thought Alli was going to be a nice, semi-normal girl for him to have a fun time with that. After all these crazy people trying to use him, I don't mind it.
This version of Alli is SO MUCH BETTER. I love that Jamie gets a chance to protect himself for once! Also, I like that he did not take pleasure in it (wanting to throw up at the damage he caused on Alli). He's a nice enough guy, I think he deserves to be able to stick up for himself.
Our little Mack, however.... I don't think she's EVER going to get to stick up for herself and vanquish an enemy. I don't think it matters, though, because all she wants is a little love.

"but the forest hadn’t shifted around a hundred years hadn’t passed"This doesn't read quite right to me. Maybe missing an "and", or something?

Thank you, it now reads "hadn't shifted around me and a hundred years".January 30 2009, 00:58:18 UTC 3 years ago

Re: Readability
Yeah, it isn't the most readable font in the world. Not very kind to the eyes. Then again, I never liked black on white to begin with.

Re: Readability
You shouldn't be seeing black on white. What operating system and browser are you using?January 30 2009, 15:50:11 UTC 3 years ago

Re: Readability
I don't find it painful to read, but I also would much prefer the old font. It is easier to read. And makes it feel more like a book, which I like.January 30 2009, 10:08:28 UTC 3 years ago

Her rival but has an axe
To grind with Jamie
Caught with his pants down
Jamie can be quite disarming
In an off-hand way
Jamie got Allie
To unhand him and returned
The favor twofold
